Memories

Darla DeAnn Gambill

In 1992 I knew Darla briefly through her daughter, Dana. Dana was a teen then and she was living up to the hype, causing her parents a bit of stress. We were at a church luncheon of some sort at DCCC and Dana and I were talking to Darla and Roger, joking about something Dana had done. I have a very clear memory of Darla, seated, looking up at Dana with such love and admiration on her smiling face. She glowed with unconditional love for her daughter even in that crazy time. That image stays with me and it’s how I will always remember her. Her memory is a blessing.
