I been thinking about u a lot and was thinking about u on my drive to work. I came to work and I had a nurse who doesn’t usually work my area. He started arguing basketball with me. He argued with me like how we argued about the Cavs warriors rivalry. It caught me so off guard and I even said this is literally throwing me off cause u literally are saying the same things George would say to me. I honestly think u made that happen to say I’m ok doc I’m ok. 

You are irreplaceable and very missed. I have peace of mind that you are not suffering anymore and probably annoyed at us crying at ur funeral more than anything. 

I love u george. You were like a brother to me. Thank you for everything.

George, They don’t make men like you anymore. You was my partner, support, fan, and great friend. I feel lost with out you. Who am I going surprise with iced mocha and stop after work to get beer on way home with. My Red, you kept me strong and when I was down you was there to pick my up. B!$@h for real. George, after reading all the other post I really can only add, that you were taken far too young. Your quick wit and funny comebacks will always be with me. On my first day at BRH you and I realized we were both old school medic’s and while having the compassion for our fellow man we could laugh about the day and the people we came in contact with. You were one of the most skilled I have ever worked with. I believe a man is measured by the love and respect they have given and earned. You my friend have earned both from me and from countless more. I will see you of the flip side of life and look forwards to the day when I hear you say again “WHAT UP THERE”! Rest in peace and know your spirit lives on in all who knew you.

George. All I can say is that I truly love you. For the last week, I’ve had a George-sized lump in my throat and a George-sized hole in my heart. I will never forget you. Every time that I see a cardinal, looking all fresh and red-headed, I’ll take it as a message from you..... Fly, my friend. Soar into Heaven with the knowledge that you are loved❤️

We were never that close as I was a day shifter but oh how his Mom's eyes would glow, the smile she would flash and the pride in her voice when I'd ask how Georgie was.... He was a good man, I've rarely heard a bad word spoken about him... Rest easy, Godspeed.

We,Jim and I ,missed many years of Sue and George’s life. Reading the memories from so many gave me a true feeling of our nephew. Thank you for sharing his life with me. His parents did a great job, as he and Sue have done with Zoe.

George was a very memorable person. His laugh was contagious and his humor caught everyone around him and put them in a better mood. He and I shared many a tale during the midnight hours when I worked there off duty and we had a lot in common due to having daughters. His love for his mother and his daughter was unquestionable and because I know he will be missed by them trust me when I say that he is the angel that will look over both of them until you see him again. Love you  brother, you will truly be missed by all that you touched. 

Knowing George for about ten years or so, I’ll always remember and miss our talks in front of our houses.  Usually he would be ending his day as I started my my own.  I’ll alway be pointing at you my friend as a way we always said hi to each other.

I met George in 2008 when I started working at Brandon Regional as a paramedic. You quickly gave me a nickname of “Metro”.  We both shared a love of tennis and enjoyed our matches.  I miss you.                         Love, Metro

I met George in 2007 when I started working at BRH. He was a gentleman, knowledgeable and the happiest paramedic that I ever met, he made my experience at my first job in FL like home. Sue you did a great job raising a gentleman that was able to help, serve and heal souls. No more pain George Rest In Peace mi friend. 

Don’t know where to start.  Since I heard about your ailment it touched me deep; I have kept you on my mind and heart ever since my good friend Jorge- as I used to call you- . Too many nights working together were not enough! Rest In Peace. From your brother i Griega- as you used to call me. 

It was April of 2009, my first week working at BRH, didnt know anyone, recently migrated to US, sad, nervous & homesick, George made me feel welcome. He loved to talk about his daughter & his mom is so awesome! He was a best paramedic. I will surely miss his contagious smile & his greetings everytime I walk by the entrance - “hey doc, how are you doc” (yes, he had a nickname for everyone). Thank you for eveything friend. No more pain, rest now!

I moved to Tampa, FL from WV not knowing a soul. I started working at BRH as a paramedic and it wasn’t long before George and I quickly became best friends. He always made me feel beautiful and never hesitated to yell it across a crowded room. Our get togethers never ended unless we both had cramps from laughing so hard about anything and everything. He was such an amazing human being and I am so blessed and thankful that he was a part of my life.  Words can not express how much I’ll miss him. 

We laughed til we may have tinkled a tad. I did agency, but was treated like part of the whole family. Peace to everyone's broken hearts at this time. Susie Q and zoe, you are blessed to have each other. Sue, u raised a magnificent man and zoe, you were blessed to have george as your daddy. George, just dont give toots too hard of a time❤❤❤❤

I taught George in medic school way back when and loved his passion and his dedication. Getting to see him over the years at BRH has always brought a smile to my face. George was just that guy...... the one who cared about you and took the time to say Hi.  

I met George in 2007 when I started working at BRH. Our whole crew was instant family! It was a really tough period in my life. George would gauge my facial expressions  and decide if he could relentlessly tease me or offer a hug and a joke that day. We bonded over music and conversations about relationships and our daughters (who were about the same age), he gave me assignments to listen to this band or that.  We shared an appreciation of diverse musical taste;Donna the Buffalo and Mad Season being the most surprising. "Hey,sis! What did you think?" Well, brother....I think our hearts are all broken. But I know our lives were all so much better for loving you. Rest in peace, Georgie. 

He was a great guy funny I met him when I worked at Brandon Hospital at night cafe he always make me laugh he will be truly missed my condolences to the family 🙏🙏🙏🙏

My heart goes out to the family especially Sue. I worked with George and Sue  at Brandon. George also took care of me in the ER .  A wonderful, kind , and very knowledgeable  person.  He will be missed by many.

Man I believe I was a scribe when I first met you and your mother. You guys were and always will be so welcoming and helping out with everything that anyone needed. The knowledge you gave to others and smiles you brought to peoples faces will never be forgotten. May you Rest In Peace my man, you will be missed!

Oh George this sucks so bad..we met 13 years ago when I first came to Florida as a travel nurse..you were one of the few highlights of working nights and excuses to go take a break to catch up and see your face down in the ER. Even over the past year walking past the ER front doors or pulling in to the parking lot and not seeing you or your car there never felt right and even more so now..you always greeted me with a hug and a smile 😊 I messaged not long ago to check up on you as I usually do but this time you didn’t respond like normally. I didn’t take it personal and just assumed perhaps you were busy or not feeling well but I still needed you to know you were always on my mind and in my heart. Hope you got to beat the hell out of that new drum set. Gonna miss you and I hope it wasn’t painful for you! You truly were an amazing human being ♥️Remember us always sharing new news with each other about your daughter and all mine. You genuinely always cared. Love you friend just sorry that I didn’t get to hug you one last time but I hope you know how special you were to so many of us ♥️

Coffee. 3 am. That's what we would do. In-between heart attacks, strokes, trauma and every human emergency. He called me Cherry (Georgey had a nickname for everyone!) and said I sang all of my words "in a high, squeeky voice: 'Whooo hoo! Whee hoo!' ", like the Gwen Stefani song, I Wanna Escape. I can tell you that he made every terrible experience bearable. And, life a lot more funny. I love you, George, my brother, my dear friend. Always and always. 

I worked with George at BRH . He was a great coworker but so very much more. He was a great friend and sometimes he was my brother and sometimes he was like my son. We helped each other through so many family losses and difficult times. We celebrated our families together. When we talked to each other it was always from the heart, no judgements, just acceptance and love. Zoe used to sit and color with me in the ER when she came to ER and it was so obvious how very much he loves her. He was so very proud of his mom, Sue and she was so much help to all of us in the ER. My most comforting thought now is that I know Toots and his Dad are with him now.  Love you always George.

I met George through working at BRH. He was such a hard worker, was always helpful and wore a big smile most of the time. I’ll never forget his admiration for Ronda Rousey. He absolutely adored his daughter Zoe and would talk about her all the time. I am so thankful to have met him.  My deepest condolences go out to Zoe, Sue, the entire  Ruszin family and all of his friends. Fly high George! ❤️

When I met George, I just started working at BRH as a EMT going through paramedic school. George took me under his wing and showed me the ropes of working at the Reg. After passing paramedic school George always remained a mentor to me as well as a brother and good friend. We worked for over 8 years at BRH, we had bad days and we had some pretty good days but George always made me want to strive for more knowledge about medicine and he would quiz me at random to see if my knowledge had grown. I will miss him more than words can describe. So George, my brother, go rest high on that mountain and rest easy. Love you brother.

Dude I Don’t  even know how to start this , we worked for 3 years and it seemed like forever. I just saw this post and couldn’t believe what I was reading . God bless you old friend, it’s a sad day for those who had the opportunity to work with you or had you as a friend. Always remembered.

George was always reliable, willing to help, and could make anyone laugh. He told things how they were, and never took shortcuts. He was one of the people that you were always happy to work with because you knew the day or night would be better.

I met George when I started working night shift at BRH. He welcomed me with open arms and I always had a blast hanging out with him. He always kept me laughing and his hugs melted the worries away every time I had a bad day.  Peabodys was always a good time with him! He was a very caring, hardworking, sincere man and he will truly be missed. Love you George!

George  and I met in the ER at the Reg, well over a decade ago.  The first time I worked with him, George was being the firecracker we all loved.  He was telling a man, who had just spit on me, to walk out the door before he “he lost his cool”. George was my hero that day and many more times after that.  I will miss my red headed firecracker friend.  Sue you raised a good man.  My heart aches for you and Zoe. 

Met Ruszin in the Army back in 1997 while stationed at Ft Bragg. His smile was contagious. This man loved those around him deeply. He was a great friend to all. Going to miss hearing from you. Love you my dear friend. 

We served together at Fort Bragg. I remember George asking me my age. When I told him, he didn't believe me so I showed him my ID. Since I was older than I looked, he gave me the name Pops. That name has stuck with me since but only those from our Platoon, (Node Center  23, B Co, 51st Signal Battalion) calls me that. Rest in Heaven Soldier.

George was my regular (as I am a bartender) and eventually became my friend.  He is such a good soul and heavened welcomed him with open arms.  We were supposed to watch the Browns vs Ravens game this past Sunday, however he couldn't make it due to his health.  On Saturday he texted me "Raincheck."  I will get that raincheck one day Buddy!  Love you!

My brother from another mother over the past 15 yrs a have shared a lot with my brother George our work family will miss him so much the good times the sad times but always making me laugh ,watching Zoe grow up from that little girl that use to go into the break room and wait for grandma sue to get off into that beautiful woman that she has become so smart and has grow so strong George and sue are so proud.  All those nights me and you had at the reg how we ever servived only god knows you always had our back George you were a wonderful friend, father , and brother to me will miss you dearly love Everett


Family comes in many forms and from many paths. I am proud that we are brothers and friends. It doesn’t matter how we got to this place. Only that we got here. George will be missed by everyone that ever knew him. One of the all time great people to ever walk this earth. Much love. R.I.P. until we meet again.  

Probably the most loyal guy I've ever met...even to those of us who didn't necessarily deserve it.   My most sincerest condolences to Zoe, Susan, and Michelle.
