Amy Rae Qualls was born on June 19, 1978, in Orange Park, Florida. She was a fun, spunky, loving woman who had a heart bigger than she probably ever realized. Amy was the kind of person who would put everyone else before herself, even when she was the one who needed someone to put her first.
Amy loved music and loved playing her guitar. She loved dragonflies, spending time with her grandchildren, and all the little moments that made life special. She especially loved being a grandmother and getting to love on her grandchildren, Raelynn, Brynlie, and Wyatt. She also loved the memories she made riding on the back of Tommy’s motorcycle, something that brought out that fun and adventurous side of her.
Amy spent her working years as a life skills teacher, where she poured so much of herself into making sure the people around her felt included, loved, and never left out. She cared deeply about people and had a way of making others feel like they mattered.
Most importantly, Amy was a woman of faith. She was a Christian with a strong relationship with God, and she always knew where she was going when this life was over. Even when things became difficult, she held onto that faith. Knowing how strongly she believed gives her family comfort now, because although saying goodbye hurts more than words can explain, we know she is finally at peace.
Amy is survived by her three daughters, Jillian Qualls, Adyson Turner, and Presley Hopper, and her grandchildren, Raelynn, Brynlie, and Wyatt, who were such a huge part of her heart. She is also survived by her mother, Cheryl Riggs, her stepfather, Harry Riggs, her devoted partner, Thomas Maltese, her sister Lara Noah and her wife, Sarah Everett, and her sister Allison Glidewell and her husband, Shane Glidewell.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wayne Qualls; paternal grandparents Cecil and Verlie Rodgers Qualls and her maternal grandparents William (Bill) and Darlene Wallace.
There really aren’t enough words to explain what Amy meant to the people who loved her. She was a daughter, a sister, a partner, a mother, and a grandmother. She was stubborn, funny, loving, spunky, and completely herself. She wasn’t perfect, and she didn’t have to be. She was simply Mom.
For her daughters, losing her means learning how to live in a world where they can’t just call their mom, hear her voice, or have one more ordinary day with her. But the love she gave them doesn’t end here. They will carry her in the things she taught them, the memories they made together, the music she loved, and in every little reminder of her that life brings their way.
A Memorial and Celebration of Life for Amy will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026 inside the Remembrance Events Center at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S, Cape Coral, Florida 33991, (239) 283-0540. Friends are welcome to gather with the family for a period of Visitation preceding this ceremony beginning at 11:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these services, all in attendance are welcome to recess to adjacent Coral Ridge Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens where Amy will be laid to rest.
Amy’s life may have ended, but her love didn’t.
She will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be a part of the people she left behind.
Until we see you again, Mom. We love you more than words could ever say.
