It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald J. Shaffner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. Jerry passed away on September 3, 2026 at the age of 84 in Cape Coral, Florida. He was surrounded in love by his family. Born on September 12, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late Archie and Ann Shaffner. He was also preceded by his brothers, Earl and Archie.
Jerry was a hardworking man who believed in providing for the people he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee in the Construction Battalion. Following his military experience, Jerry married the love of his life, Patricia in 1966.
He spent many years working outside in the cold Cleveland winters as a proud union pipefitter. Eventually, tired of the harsh winters and ready for a new chapter, he moved his family to Cape Coral in 1983. With the same determination and work ethic that had carried him throughout his life, he started his own air conditioning company and built a successful business.
After retirement, he finally had the opportunity to slow down and enjoy life with his wife and his beloved rescue yorkie, Toby, who brought him friendship, joy and plenty of love.
Jerry leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, determination and devotion to his family. He built a life for those he loved, amd his presence will forever remain in the hearts of the family who was blessed to call him Pops.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia née Jarzemba; his children, Michael and Christine (Jeff) his granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Brenna and his great-grandchildren, Baker and Hartley Grace.
His life will be celebrated in a small family gathering, where his memory will be honored with love and gratitude.
