

David W. Miles-Perry was born on July 13, 1950 in Houston Texas. David was raised by his late mother Dorothy Perry in San Bernardino, California. He graduated from San Bernardino high school in 1969. He then joined the U.S. Navy and honorably served over 21 years as Senior Chief Petty Officer in Communications. While serving in the military, he met Chief Petty Officer Shirley Sterling in San Diego, California in 1988, and they united in September 1990.David enjoyed fishing, riding horses, classic automobiles, and relaxing with his friends and family. He worked at the Department of State in Washington, DC where he was responsible for a host of administrative duties regarding the capture and management of confidential information and documents. Upon relocating to Louisiana, David was able to utilize his leadership experience and abilities to be an effective and insightful Plant Manager for Francis Drilling Fluids. David was able to spend the rest of time before passing doing what he loved to do best and that was driving and adventuring the countryside while he was employed with JB Hunt. David is survived by his wife Shirley in Loganville Georgia. They had two sons Justin Sterling (stepson) and David S. Miles of Loganville, Ga. David had a prior marriage to Kim Thi Tho with whom he had 3 children Dahn Thanh (stepson) of Jacksonville, FL, Kim Van Tuan of Las Vegas, NV and Tracy Luther Miles (wife Jennifer Miles) of Rialto, CA. He is survived by his siblings Patricia Sloan, from Riverside CA, Marilyn Lutgring of Winfield, AL, and Larry Perry of Las Vegas, NV. David leaves behind ten grandchildren: Kimberly, Aaron, Kimiko, Kim Jr., Morgan, Ashley, Khyre, Elijah, Ty, and Nyalynn as well as three great grandchildren: Asai Ariel and Jordan, his in-laws James and Maxine Mitchell, from DeRidder, LA, as well as a host of other family members and friends. David touched the lives and hearts of far too many individuals to list. However, all who knew him could truly say that he was an inquisitive, loving, and kind hearted man. Though often soft spoken he never met a stranger and if anyone or anything he loved was threatened he had no problem showing just how protective he could be. If there ever came a time that anyone needed help, David never hesitated to assist, as he was always supportive. Even through the darkest of times David had a unique way of remaining hopeful because he knew the Lord and kept faith in his word. The memories of David will forever be cherished in our hearts.
