Ann Waggoner Pyburn, 90, passed away on April 29, 2024. She was born on April 21, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Thomas Waggoner, Sr. and Nell Harris Waggoner. Ann graduated from Ensley High School and Auburn University, where she earned her Teaching degree. Auburn University is also where she met the love of her life, Jim Pyburn. She and Jim went to Mississippi and eloped. They shared 57 years together before his passing in 2011.
Ann and Jim were founding members of Woodland Trace Church of Christ in Jasper, Alabama, where she was still a member. Ann was a tireless, selfless, and loving wife and mother. She loved the Lord and her family. Her memory will be forever cherished. Ann truly had a servant's heart and she showed the Lord’s love to those she came into contact with.
Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Jeffrey Thomas Pyburn and Matthew Harris Pyburn (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Jay Pyburn (Shannon), Will Pyburn (Sadie), Aubrey Hess (Joseph); 4 great grandchildren; and her brother, James Thomas Waggoner, Jr. (Marilyn). She was preceded in death by her parents, James T. Waggoner, Sr. and Nell Harris Waggoner; and her beloved husband, Jim Pyburn.
Services will be at Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2024, with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Woodland Trace Church of Christ, 601 Mall Way, Jasper, AL 35504.
