Joyce Allen and her twin brother George Allen, who preceded her in death, were born April 11, 1940 in Cypress, Texas to Mr. Hamilton and Madia (Johnson) Allen. They were the third set of twins in the family of 15. Joyce attended school in Rosehill, Hufsmith and Fairbanks.
As a young lady, Joyce moved to Houston to live with her older sister and her husband. She continued her schooling and later started a job at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. She later began working at
M. D. Anderson Hospital where she retired after 32 years of service. Joyce was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at Magnolia Church of God In Christ in 1961 under the leadership of Elder W. L. Barnes, Elder
Willard Powell, Elder Carl Powell and Elder Ricky Chaney. She remained a loyal and faithful servant until she went home to be with the Lord.
She held many positions in the church. She was a YPWW and Bible Band Teacher, Usher, State Courtesy Usher, Prayer Warrior, Mission Program Coordinator, Choir Member and taught the online Bible Study
until her demise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hamilton and Madie Allen; five brothers, Hamilton, Jr., Charles Allen, Sam Allen, Howard Allen and George Allen; four sisters, Lucy Robinson, Jane Allen, Esther Allen and
Rosetta Glass.
She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Miliam Allen (Helen) and Chester Allen (Sally); three sisters, Ella Mae Allen, Clara Allen and Henrietta Barnes, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, special godchildren, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
