Beverly (Bev) was born October 29, 1928, to George and Elaine Watson in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the oldest of three girls. She attended Leeds High School and Briarcliff College in Sioux City. Although Bev left Sioux City to raise her six children in Colorado, Sioux City remained a part of her for her entire life. Bev called Longmont her home for over 40 years. She enjoyed taking walks around MacIntosh Lake (even at the age of 90 years old), Golden Pond, or throughout the neighborhoods. She was proud to volunteer for St. John’s Food Bank for many years (preparing and delivering food boxes to needy families).
Faith was Bev’s foundation and many friends and family found faith simply by watching how Bev lived her life. She was a living example of resilience, perseverance, kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness.
Bev received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Colorado State University in 1981 and pursued sharing her teaching knowledge and experience at various schools in Colorado and Iowa. She especially enjoyed her teaching career after graduating from CSU, but Bev was a natural teacher her entire life, touching countless lives along the way.
Bev was continually active, playing in community golf leagues, altering and sewing for friends, neighbors, and her many children. In her retirement Bev loved playing cards, especially gathering with her Bridge group friends. Bev enjoyed traveling with her sisters and friends throughout the United States and internationally. One of her most memorable trips took her to the Holy Land and brought many more long-time friends.
Bev was a devoted mother, and grandmother and was famous for her home baked goods (especially her cream puffs). She treasured spending time with her family, she cherished the relationships with her sisters, and loved watching her Broncos and Rockies (attending whenever she could), always keeping up on the players’ stats. She relished the opportunity to sit on her deck and take in the beauty of her beautiful flowers and sweet sounds of the chirping birds.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Marilyn Rowe, Grand Junction, Colorado and Janice Bornholtz (Carmen), Sioux City Iowa: her children, Anne (David) Hauswald, Thornton, CO: Connie (Rick) Bauman, Buckeye, Arizona: Roger (Barbara) Lyle, Crofton, Nebraska: Cindy (Cynthia) Griffin, Thornton, CO: Doug (Mimi) Lyle, Longmont, CO: Dale (Kerri) Lyle, Firestone, CO. She had thirteen grandchildren, over 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
