Reverend Vernon George Williamson, age 82, native of Pine Hill, AL and longtime resident of Semmes, AL, went home to his Heavenly home on April 27, 2024. A visitation will be held on May 3, 2024, from 6-8pm, at Gracepointe Mobile. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00am at Gracepointe Mobile with Pastor Ken Hall officiating. Mr. Williamson will be laid to rest in Independence Cemetery in Pine Hill, AL.
Mr. Williamson loved the Lord and lived a very blessed life. When faced with his final diagnosis, he made it abundantly clear he was ready to go to his Heavenly home.
Mr. Williamson never met a stranger – chances were good that you even had at least one mutual acquaintance no matter where you met him. He served in the U.S. Army and married the love of his life, Joan, May 9, 1960. In 1976 he gave his life to the Lord and pastored his first church, Milry Church of God, in 1977. He served faithfully in the Church of God organization for more than 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan West Williamson; parents Julius and Bonnie Williamson; sister, Bonnet Williamson Guysinger; sister and brother-in-law, Alex and Juliet Flint; brother Collon Williamson. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his sons, Bo and J. Dwayne (Alicia) Williamson; grandchildren Alex, Marcus (Barbie), Veronica (Jonathan), Jaret and Jenna; great grandchildren Delilah Joan and Jonathan; brother Wayne Williamson; sister-in-law Ruby Williamson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends that loved him.
