On Friday, April 26, Robert M Anthony, a beloved husband, brother and uncle passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was eighty-three. He is survived by Lynda ("Kim") his wife of 52 years, his brothers Rick (Patti) and John (Margaret), brother-in-law Sol, nieces and nephews Jeff, Mary Beth (Matt), Scott, Joanne (Camilo). Kelly (Blake) and Megan (Jason) and great nieces and nephews (Cooper, Cosmo, Lucas, Sasha, Brooke and Zoe).
Born to Mary and Robert C. Anthony on April 10, 1941, Bob attended Latona Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. He attended Western Washington University. He later served in the Army Reserves and worked at a variety of jobs until her found is calling when a friend recruited him to join the staff at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home. He thrived at helping clients in his position as sales and counselor at the cemetery from 1974 to 2001. In the 1990s he served as President and CEO until he sold the company on behalf of the original owners.
Bob's greatest joy was serving others. At Acacia he provided care and support to many families during some of their most trying times. As a brother, he regularly checking in to see how they and their families were doing as well as hosting family get-togethers and celebrations. As an AA member for 49 years, he sponsored others in the program helping them achieve the long-term sobriety he treasured. Retiring in 2001 at the age of 60, Bob devoted more of his time to golfing at Glendale Country Club where he and his wife have been members for 44 years.
Bob was a kind, caring man with many friends at work, at golf, and in the Bill W. circle of friends, and he will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Kaiser Permanente Hospice team and Evergreen Hospice Center for their devoted care of our beloved.
A celebration of life will be held at Acacia on Saturday, May 18th at 1:00 pm.
