Melvin Periece Wilson was born into this world on the Friday of August 22nd 1986. His mother had prayed and prayed for another child, and the lord finally gave to her a son. From then on, that son was always the coolest guy in the room.
He was raised in West Seattle, by his mother Patricia Kennedy and step father Dennis Reyes. During this time, Melvin would find himself being quite the mischief maker in the neighborhood and amongst his friends at school. There was never a room that Melvin was in that wasn’t filled with laughter. His older sister, Lateefha, kept him in check. He had his own adoring fans, three younger siblings; Butch, Kalila and Kwame, who would follow him wherever he went. They tired him out. And even so, Melvin was their protector.
Growing up, Melvin’s life was met with some rain and rough patches. He had pulled through difficult times and managed to find some sun, in his family and friends. Eventually Melvin had his first son, Elijah, and then Isaiah, who both lit up his entire world. He was an utterly devoted father, who loved his sons more than the air he breathed. As time went on, Melvin had built a strong bond with Megan Meyer and the two became engaged. He was an articulate soul, after the passing of his youngest brother Kwame, Melvin continued to advocate for him and his memory.
He would encourage his friends and lend a helping hand when he could. His heart was ever loyal to those closest to him, and always willing to fight for what he believed in.
On April 4th 2021, Melvin’s life was tragically taken away from his loved ones. He leaves behind a mourning mother, sons, brothers, sisters, fiancé, friends, and family who will always miss his bright light. They will continue to celebrate the life he lived and the love he blessed them with throughout his 34 years of living.
May he now rest easy.
