Timothy Edward Bauer was born on April 8, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward W. Bauer and Dorothy Schuster Bauer. Tim grew up on a farm in rural Shawnee, attending school at Greenwood Grade School and Shawnee Mission Northwest High School.
Tim worked on the assembly line at General Motors for thirty years. After retirement from GM, he worked for Assisted Transportation Company for several years, driving veterans to medical appointments. Tim liked to be busy and loved being outdoors. Some of his many post retirement jobs included working for a sod farm and mowing grass at a golf course.
The last few years of his life, he purchased a small farm in Princeton, Kansas which he called his little piece of heaven. He loved spending weekends puttering around in his shop and sitting on the porch in the evening with a beer in his hand, watching the sun go down.
Tim liked country music and line dancing and had many friends at Kanza Hall. Tim was a friend to everyone and was always willing to help with any needed favor. If you were having a bad day, he would make you laugh. Regardless of what was going on, Tim always had a smile on his face and a story to keep you in good spirits. Tim turned 66 in April and dreamed of driving his red 1966 Ford truck on Route 66.
Tim loved his dogs, Junior and Dakota. The dogs went everywhere he went and had a special place at the Princeton farm. When Tim went on vacations hauling his camping trailer, the dogs were along.
Tim had a special relationship with Branden Nave and considered him his stepson. He taught Branden to drive not only a truck, but farm equipment as well. They spent many weekends together baling hay, taking care of cattle and birthing calves.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Joe Bauer, and his sister, Deb Bauer, and many nieces and nephews.
His visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Queen of the Holy Rosary, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, KS. Committal Service will immediately follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
