Gilbert E. Wagle

Gilbert “Gib” Earl Wagle, 76, of Greencastle passed away on October 7, 2020, at Hendricks Regional Hospital. Gib was born in Seelyville on December 3, 1943, the son of Kenneth S. and Retha (Clines) Wagle, and was a 1962 graduate of Reelsville High School. Gib owned and operated Wagle Custom Bulldozing and Limedale Ditching for many years. There are many ponds in Putnam County that were built by Gib. In addition to having a special talent for operating heavy equipment and working the land, Gib loved spending time with his grandchildren, having family gatherings and hunting mushrooms in the spring. Survivors include his two daughters, Susan (Danny) Williams, and Hope Ann (David) Sutherlin, a sister, June (Rich) Wagle Sanders, five grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Williams, and Andrew, Rachel, and Ryan Sutherlin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Kenneth Dale Wagle; and a sister Joyce Ann Hayes. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday.
