Henry R Konkle

Henry R. “Hank” Konkle, of Albion, passed away August 5, 2011 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. He was born August 8, 1929 in Albion, Michigan to Walter Roy and Mary Frances (Paskett) Konkle. On July 5, 1947 he was married to Patricia Knodt in Albion and she survives.

He is a 1947 Graduate of Washington Gardner High School and Committee Member and Master of Ceremonies for every “Class of 1947” Reunion. He retired from Decker Manufacturing of Albion in 1994 as President and remained on the Board of Directors as Chairman of the Board and later as Chairman Emeritus. His affiliations include Vice-President of the Albion Manufacturers Association; Albion Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in the 1980’s and 1990’s including being Chairman of the Board in 1992; The Albion Community Foundation Board; He was a Charter member of the Albion Knights of Columbus Council # 5255; Albion Economic Development Board; City Bank Advisory Board; A member of Duck Lake Country Club; A Member of St. John Catholic Church; St. John Catholic Church Finance Council; St. Johns Parish Council and its Liturgy Team.

Besides his wife, Patricia he is survived by 5 Daughters Janine (Ken) Waito, Linda (Kevin) Markovich, Terry (Significant other Harold Face) Konkle, Sally (Dennis) Jackson, and Nancy Konkle-Jackson all of Albion; 2 Sons James (Kathy) Konkle of Brighton; and Steve (Sal) Konkle of Marshall.16 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren; 1 Sister Genevieve Konkle of Albion; 2 Brothers Bernard L. (Katy) Konkle and Theodore R. (Joanne) Konkle both of Albion. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 Son Thomas W. Konkle; 2 Sisters Gertrude Orlowski and Agnes Schultz; 1 Brother Edwin Konkle.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 PM & 6:00-8:00 PM, at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be Monday August 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Catholic Church, 1020 Irwin Avenue, Albion, MI with Revs. Fr. Joe Gray, Fr. William Jacobs, and Fr. James Barrett officiating.
