

Mahn Thongsouk, 73, passed away on January 13, 2022, at her residence in Ames, IA. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th at Steven’s Memorial Chapel at 10:00 am with funeral services starting after at 11:00 am.
Mahn Keochai was born on November 2, 1948, in Sayaboury, Laos to Keo Keochai and Whan Keochai. Mahn and her family immigrated to the United States in June of 1980. She took many English-speaking classes to prepare herself for life in America and began working for McFarland Clinic in 1985 and retired from there after 35 years. Mahn loved fishing, hiking, hunting for mushrooms, cooking, gardening, teaching her children new things, and spending time with her family. She also loved animals and had many cats.
Mahn is preceded in death by her parents, Keo and Whan Keochai.
Mahn is survived by her husband, Lat Thongsouk; children, Lope Thongsouk, Mai (Lan) Thongsouk, See Thongsouk, Somphet Thongsouk and Cindy (Chad) Dorhout; Grandchildren, Devin Thongsouk-Schultz, Shanita (Nolasco) Cabrera, Sammy Thongsouk, Priscilla Thongsouk, Preston Thongsouk, Levi Thongsouk, Akira Thongsouk, Neela Thongsouk, Kensie Dorhout, and Emma Dorhout, Anthony Thongsouk; Great-Grandchildren, Alma Cabrera.
Memorial contributions for Mahn Thongsouk can be addressed to the family for later distribution.
The family will hold a traditional Laotian Memorial (Huan Dee) at 1125 Stafford, Ames, IA. An open house will be: Sunday, January 16th from 1 pm-8 pm and Monday, January 17th from 8 am - 4 pm
