Wandaleen Schulte

Funeral Services will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church, 610 15th St, Ames, Iowa on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa following the service.

Wandaleen was born on March 21, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (French) Mooers. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Donald Anthony Schulte on October 23, 1964 in Omaha, Nebraska. There were four children to this union, Pamela, Ralph, Dawn and Mona.

While growing up Wandaleen wanted to be a history teacher but she flourished as a child care provider for 51 years. She ran her own in home daycare and nurtured many children over the years. She was also a staff member at the Story County Juvenile Home. Her special interests were crossword puzzles, playing cards especially solitaire, but most of all she dearly loved spending time with her family. She would like to be remembered as someone who would persevere through all of life’s struggles but mainly as a grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames. She had a strong faith and enjoyed being with her church family.

Wandaleen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Anthony Schulte; her parents; grandparents, Guy and Edith French and siblings, Wayne D Mooers, Coleen “Jo” Twedt-Allen and Harold Mooers. She is survived by her four children, Pamela (Bryan) Ray, Ralph (Sandy) Schulte, Dawn Schulte and Mona Potts; six grandchildren, Sheila Kendall, Stephanie (Jayme) Kramer, Amber Kendall, Mandy (Adam) Parton, Adam (Courtney) Schulte and Mindy (Kyle) Peterson and 16 great grandchildren.
