Bertie Clark Womble

Bertie was born September 7, 1949 in Chocowinity, NC to the late Leland Dale Clark and Cleo Williams Clark. She was employed with Cooper Tools in Apex retiring with over 40 years of service. Bertie and Tommy enjoyed playing golf and were members of Devil’s Ridge Golf Club. She fought a valiant fight with breast cancer for over 26 years. Bertie was a member of New Hill Baptist Church. She was loved by many and will be held in memory forever.

Bertie is survived by her husband of 35 years, Tommy Womble; brother, Dale Clark (Barbara); sisters, Jennifer Moore (Greg) and Marie Stewart (Don); father-in-law, Wallace Wayne Womble, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Patty McIver (Keith) and Phyllis Womble; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held 2pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends 12-2pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at New Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bertie requested that thanks be given to the love of her life, Tommy Womble, Jennifer Moore, Pam Greer, Nell Turner, Sue Green and Debbie Judd. Also, special thanks to Dr. Mark Graham and Nicole Jones and the entire staff at Waverly Hematology and Oncology.
