Cody Alexander Yates

On Sunday July 22, 2012 as a result of injuries from a car accident, Cody slipped peacefully into the outstretched arms of God while surrounded by family and friends. He would have been 21 next month. Left to treasure his memories are his parents - Paige Walker of Cary, father and best friend, Mike Yates of Apex, sister, Ashley Walker, grandparents Pam Pace of Cary, and Willie Yates of Apex. Also surviving are his Aunt, Michelle Walker of Apex, Uncle James Paschal of Cary, and three cousins, Ethan Paschal, Samantha Walker, and Kurt Walker. Preceding him in death were his Grandfather, Jim Paschal of Washington, DC, Step-Grandfather, Gary Pace of Cary, and Grandmother, Sue Yates of Apex.

Cody lived an active, adventurous life and enjoyed being on a skateboard, bike or anything else with wheels, but his great love and passion was music. He was happiest when at home playing his guitar, even if the only audience happened to be his beloved dog Daisy. It was apparent that Cody had many friends as they arrived at the hospital in numbers to pay last respects. The family wishes to thank the caring doctors and staff of Wake Med Raleigh Hospital NICU who worked so determinely to save him and the members of the NC Highway Patrol who continued to express deep concern following the accident.

A visitation with family will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm on Thursday, July 26 at Apex Baptist Church, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm at Apex Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park. On-line condolences may be made to apexfuneral.net.
