Colette W. Schultz, of Apex, NC, formerly Mt. Hope, NY, passed away October 3rd following a protracted illness. She was born in Covina, California to George Hughlett Williams and Sarah Hale Williams. After the family moved to New York, she graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua and attended Syracuse University where she met her future husband, Dr. Ronald P. Schultz. They were married for 53 years. She is also survived by daughter Jennifer Buhlman and husband Kevin, daughter Claudia Young, son-in-law Matthew Crumley, brother Rodgers Williams and wife Jan, sister-in-law Cynthia Williams, grandchildren Andrew and Alexandra Crumley, Nicholas Buhlman, Alice and William Young, and several cousins on the west coast. She was predeceased by daughter Jessica, her parents and brothers George and John Williams.
Colette was a full-time homemaker, mother, and grandmother. The most important thing to her was family. When daughter Jessica lived in Bermuda, she was a frequent flyer and well-known to the skycaps at Newark Airport who afforded her VIP status. She was happiest when all the family was together for holidays and special occasions.
Colette had an extraordinary personality. She would not leave the house without her pearls, earrings, red lipstick and her signature scent, Chanel No. 5. She had nicknames for many of those she cared for including (you know who you are): RP, Babs, Nicos, Tex Weatherby, HPB, Sally from the Alley, Banana, Patti Poopers, Linda Lou, Lynda Sue and Mo. Her own nicknames were Mama Pajama, The Cool Aunt, GQ, and CWS. Beside her family and close friends, the things she loved were old movies on her “gray channel”, Barry Manilow, Jimmy Buffet, The Eagles, Tanqueray and tonic in a short glass with no fruit, drag queens, Mercedes, sashimi and beef carpaccio, Sunset House and The Bomba Shack. She had a heightened sense of the ridiculous and her words of wisdom were “If you don’t laugh at yourself, someone else will do it for you”.
She and Jessie are now on a beach somewhere living in a house with a personal chef and getting matching tattoos.
