

Jack Riggsbee, age 85, of Apex, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning while a resident at Brookdale of Cary (formerly Clare Bridge). Son of the late Nannie and Norman Riggsbee of the Green Level community near Apex, Jack is preceded in death by his brothers, Claire, Harold, Vernon, and Haywood, and sisters, Margaret Atwater and Mary Foster.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Stone Riggsbee; daughters: Jackie Riggsbee Woodcock (the late Phil), Cindy Riggsbee Hobby (Eddie), and Amy Riggsbee Gilbert; grandchildren: Nicholas Hobby (Cheyenne), Kristina Hobby-Strickland (Binford), Michael Gilbert (Paige), and Jordan Gilbert; great-granddaughter: Savannah Hobby Strickland; step-grandchildren: Eadee Woodcock Marchese’ (Mike) and Phil Woodcock (Sabrina); step-granddaughters: Myca Joy Marchese, Layla Grayce Marchese, and Morgan Elizabeth Woodcock; sister: Peggy Gooch; and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong farmer, Jack enjoyed driving his John Deere tractors, growing tobacco, fruits and vegetables on the home farm and was owner of Crossroads Express Mart. He attended the original Green Hope School near Green Level. Jack also loved to hang out at Carpenter Farm Supply with his friends in the community.
His family would like to thank Dr. Anant Soni, the staff at Brookdale of Cary, and Transitions LifeCare (founded as Hospice of Wake County) for their love and support provided to Jack and the family during Jack’s illness.
A memorial service at Apex Funeral Home located at 550 W. Williams Street, Apex will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. The family will receive friends after the service.
