

Gail Anne (Sheridan) Conroy, a devoted wife and mother, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on February 7, 1949, in Queens, NY, to Marguerite and Alexander Sheridan, Gail relocated to North Carolina with her husband, Dennis, in 2020, after many years residing in Westchester, NY.
A graduate of Valley Stream Central High School in 1967, Gail went on to earn her degree from Oneonta State University in 1971, majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in French. During her time at Oneonta, she was an active member and President of Arethusa Sorority and participated in intramural sports.
Throughout her life, Gail was deeply committed to volunteerism, holding various positions with community, school and church organizations, while supporting her husband's career. After her children grew older, she excelled as the Director of Development for Blessed Sacrament in New Rochelle, NY.
Gail was known for her exceptional culinary skills, often exploring new recipes and enjoying The Food Network. She was also a talented artist, passionate about painting, calligraphy, and crafts. Her love for reading and music brought her immense joy.
Despite facing significant challenges, including Multiple Sclerosis and dementia, Gail's vibrant personality remained a cherished part of her until the end. In her final weeks, her demeanor became increasingly calm and loving, as if preparing for a reunion with Dennis, the love of her life, whom she deeply missed. Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dennis Joseph, who passed away on July 18, 2024.
Gail is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Bridget Anne (Edwards) and her husband, Andrew, who live in North Carolina with their sons Patrick Alexander (15) and Kian Andrew (12); and Devin and his wife, Teresa, who reside in Florida with their daughters Aleena Marguerite (4) and Olivia Valentina (2). She also leaves behind her sister, Sheila Jane (Sheridan) Striffler.
Gail's family and friends will miss her tremendously, but they find comfort in knowing she is now finally at peace and reunited with Dennis. Her legacy of love and dedication will continue to be cherished by those who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:45 am on Friday, June 13, at Saint Sebastian Church (58-02 Roosevelt Avenue, Woodside, Queens). Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, also in Woodside.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Gail's memory, such as organizations supporting Multiple Sclerosis or dementia research.
