George Joseph Whitmore Jr.

George was born December 22, 1929 in Morristown, NJ to the late George Joseph Whitmore, Sr. and Elizabeth Bearlapp Whitmore. He was a graduate of Morristown High School and Korean War veteran of the US Army. George worked as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ, retiring with over 35 years of service. Before retiring to Florida, George, his wife Shirley, and daughters lived in Lake Shawnee, NJ. George was very active in the community as Past Chief of Jefferson Township #2 Fire Department and Past Captain of the Rescue Squad. George was a true Jack of all trades. Always eager to share his love of gardening, and knowledge of fixing or building anything.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann Whitmore. George is also predeceased by brothers Joseph and John and sisters Helen, Louise, and Elizabeth.

George is survived by his daughters, Diana Di Lillo (husband John) and Donna Weiss (husband Kenneth). George was a loving Grandfather to Jason Di Lillo, Matthew Di Lillo (Donna) and Kimberly Vanderhoef (Lee). So very proud of his Great Grandchildren Anthony, Annabella, Adriana, Olivia, and Giuliana. Dear Brother of Caroline Banghart and Mary Shiels and many nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
