

Jack Elmer Goddard passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, 1802 old US 1, Apex, NC.
Jack was born on September 19, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Lawrence Elmer and Viola Gertrude McIlvain Goddard. He served in the US Air Force 1952-1956 as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from IBM after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Gideons. He was most remembered and loved as the family photographer. He loved and enjoyed his family, friends, and fellow church members. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill) Roberts of Monticello, Indiana; and his sisters Betty Goddard Zwingler of Riverside, California, and Myra Jean Goddard of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanola Janiece Greer Goddard; his daughters, Wanola M. Rose of Hampton, Va, Jacqueline Goddard Rakes and husband Terry of Virginia Beach, Va, Carolyn S. Goddard of Garner, NC, and Marion Goddard Mersch and husband Steve of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Robyn L. Rose, Renee L. Rose, and Regina Rose Durkot and husband Johnny, all of Hampton, Va, Blair E. Phelps of Newport News, Va, John Mark Evans and wife Brooke of Holly Springs, NC, Ashley Ramsey and husband Ben of Dayton, Ohio, Jeremy R. Mersch of Boone, NC, Matthew A. and Christopher A. Mersch of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rose of Christiansburg, Va, Nikki L. Durkot of Hampton, Va, Kylie A. and Emily J. Evans of Holly Springs, NC, Evan J., Alex M., Emily K., Jack W. and Sarah K. all of Dayton, Ohio; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. (Hwy 55), Apex, NC. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2539 N. Armistead Ave., in Hampton, Va.
