OBITUARY

James Larry Taylor

1 November, 1945 – 10 February, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Apex Funeral Home

On February 10, 2023, James Larry Taylor, caring husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 77 after courageously battling esophageal cancer for the last seven months.

Larry was born on November 1, 1945 in Archdale, NC to Robert and Rose (Perdue) Taylor. He received his Criminal Justice degree from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in 1975 and he was in property management for over 30 years.

During college, Larry enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971, serving a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. On April 10, 1976, he married Jeanne Flannery. They raised two children, David and Karen.

Larry had a strong work ethic, a desire to give his family everything they needed and wanted, and had a great, witty-dry sense of humor. He had a love for music, especially the 50's sounds of Bo Diddley and Elvis Presley. At one time, Larry thought that he too could paint like Bob Ross and bought all of the supplies to create his masterpiece. It hung in their bedroom for years, and he told everyone that it was an..."abstract painting". He lit up when discussing Burger King, NC barbeque, Bermuda, banana pudding, Ben and Jerry’s ‘Chunky Monkey’ ice cream, Dallas Cowboys football, politics, NASCAR, golf, the stock market, his mother’s fried apple pie, his wife’s vegetable soup, and his grand-dog, Lucas.

He will be dearly missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his father (Robert), his mother (Rose), his brother (Jerry), and his son (David). He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, his daughter, Karen (husband, Tom), his sister Ramona, and his adored grand-daughters, Annie and Blythe.

Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held privately by the family.

A donation to Transitions Hospice would be much appreciated by his family. (www.transitionslifecare.org/donate)
