

Jane, Janie, Mom and Mrs Rov as she was affectionately called was born on April 17, 1940 in Meriden, CT to the late, Howard DeForest Lockwood II and Marion Lockwood. Jane cherished spending time with her friends and family throughout life and made numerous friends wherever she lived including Connecticut, California, Arizona, Florida and North Carolina. She graduated from Cheshire High School in 1958 and attended college at the University of Arizona.
She was a loving and doting mother to her three children and always had an open heart and house to her friends and those in need. She made every day special with her warmth and effervescent personality. Jane followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming a member of the Rotary Club and volunteering her time with organizations like Reach Out & Read and Special Olympics of Connecticut. Jane worked for many years as the manager of the Pediatric Center at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT where she organized the hospital’s centennial gala celebration.
She moved to The Villages in Florida following her retirement where she made numerous new friends and pursued new interests including golf, painting, acting and water volleyball. Jane was also able to spend time with her brother Peter and his family which brought her great joy.
Jane held a special place in her heart for animals including her pets and dogs throughout life.
Jane’s favorite passion was being a grandmother and cherished spending time with her granddaughters Morgan and Sofia. Most recently, Jane resided in North Carolina where she brought her warmth and caring to new friends and spent time with family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Susan Hansen and her brother Howard DeForest “Peter” Lockwood III.
She is survived by her daughter Alison Christenson, son-in-law Robert and granddaughter Morgan of Holly Springs, NC; daughter Elizabeth Rovaldi of Lakeland, FL; and her son, Christopher Rovaldi, daughter-in-law Andrea and granddaughter Sofia of Swampscott, MA.
Jane’s love, humor, friendship, storytelling and hugs will be greatly missed.
