Justin “Boo Bear” Dennis Bossian, 22, of Apex, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Justin spent nine months battling a rare form of sarcoma cancer before he found peace. He continues to serve as an inspiration to others who are still fighting their own good fight. Justin will forever be remembered for his infectious smile, endless energy, and unwavering positivity. Justin brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
Born with a zest for life and a light that never dimmed, Justin was a proud graduate of East Carolina University (Class of ‘24) with a degree in Kinesiology and Health Fitness. His passion for health and wellness extended far beyond the classroom. A dedicated amateur bodybuilder, Justin constantly pushed himself to new heights—constantly striving to beat his prior lifts. Always in search of his next “PR” (Personal Record), his commitment and discipline drove him to compete in two NPC Bodybuilding competitions in 2023 where he showcased his physique that he worked so tirelessly to create and carve.
Justin’s enthusiasm for life was contagious. Whether cheering on his beloved New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, or his die-hard favorite Boston Bruins (yes, this kid who was born in 2002 was absolutely spoiled with so many championships in such a short time), he radiated joy and loyalty. A true fan of all things Boston, Justin’s spirit could light up any room, especially when posing in front of almost every mirror he came across with his signature smirk and grin.
Sports were more than just a pastime; they were a passion. From monster trucks to any competitive event, Justin embraced it all with excitement and heart. When he was just 6 years old, as a first grader, he won a photo and essay contest at his elementary school when his teacher submitted his letters and photos professing his love for Excaliber the Monster Truck (as a six-year old, he pronounced it “Monty Twuck”). He lived his life like his favorite trucks, fast and loud. As he got a bit older, he moved on from toy trucks to his own version of a monster truck as he was known in Greenville for his lifted Chevy Silverado that he used to take his roommates and friends around in all the time. He lived by mottos like “Live life to the fullest like every day is your last” and “Push yourself to your limits until you fail,” inspiring those around him to do the same.
When he wasn’t maxing out his lifts or watching any Boston team, he would relax by playing his friends in NHL Hockey or Madden Football on his X-Box. When he was just looking to chill out a little, Justin loved watching the Godfather, the Sopranos, almost every Rocky movie, and the Breaking Bad series.
Justin was all about food. As much of it as he could possibly consume as long as it was protein. His favorite meal was always “the next one” as long as it was steak, chicken, or a combination of the two. He never went anywhere without his gallon jug of water, famously bringing it to his graduation and almost across the stage (Mom said “no”).
Justin believed deeply in using one’s God-given talents and often reminded others not to waste theirs. He was happiest when encouraging friends and family to reach their potential—always ready with a joke and words of motivation. His selflessness was unmatched; he would give you the shirt off his back (regardless of whether or not he had just ripped it by flexing) without hesitation and was always there to lend a hand.
Family meant everything to Justin. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kimberly Bossian and Andrew Chica of Apex, North Carolina; father, Dennis David Bossian of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; brother, U.S. Marines 1st Lt. Jayden “Jay” Bossian of Apex; maternal grandparents, Barry and Cynthia Cornell of South Hill, Virginia; paternal grandmother, Marie Bossian of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; and his girlfriend, Olivia Giambalvo of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home in Apex, North Carolina. A Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Apex. After the Mass, a Celebration of Life Gathering will continue at his mother’s home at 365 Canterwood Drive in Apex.
To know Justin was truly to love him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to all whose lives he touched.
