Kathleen Carroll Goodwin

Kathleen Carroll Goodwin passed away peacefully at Lee’s Long Term Care on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. She was born to the late Willey A. and Grace Holland Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charlie Goodwin; sister, Louise Carroll Watkins; brother-in-laws, Glenn “Billy” Goodwin of Clayton, and Joe Watkins of Roseville.

Kathleen is survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Wall Goodwin of Clayton, and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was known affectionately as “Kat”, a nickname given to her in early life by family and friends because of her love of cats. Kathleen worked for many years in the shoe department at Charles’ Store and later at King’s Department Store. She shared many funny stories of her years fitting shoes. “Kat” will always be remembered by the Fairview Fire Department for she and Charlie serving tea at their BBQs, as well as, the many pictures she was known for taking at all their functions.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex. A funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Apex Cemetery.
