Kelly Eugene Sheppard

Kelly Eugene Sheppard, 43, of Apex, North Carolina went to meet his mother on Friday, April 20, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born June 30, 1968 in Elkhart, IN to Thomas Lewis and Margie Sheppard.

Kelly leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Mikayla Sheppard of Apex, North Carolina; his sister Kimberly A. Sheppard-Coleman, of Goshen, IN; an adopted brother Julius (Robin) Richardson of North Carolina; Two half-sisters, Sendney (Vance) Mason-Fonville, of Indiana and Gwen Holiday of Ohio; and one half-brother, Tyrone Davis of Benton Harbor, MI. Four maternal aunts, Lena Brown, Susie Harris, Emily Sheppard, and Priscilla (Ron) Suggs, all of Elkhart, IN; three maternal uncles, Marshall (Linda) Sheppard, Jr. of Rochester, NM, Samuel (Toni) Sheppard of Lansing, MI and Tracy Sheppard of Elkhart, IN, and one paternal uncle, John Dye of Elkhart, IN. His fiancée Crystal Johnson of Apex, North Carolina also survives. Kelly also leaves to cherish his memory, a niece Bri’shana Coleman, and two nephews, Brandon and Byron Coleman all of Elkhart, IN, in addition to a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Margie, as well as his maternal grandparents; Marshal and Martha Sheppard, and his paternal grandparents Mary and John Dye. Upon the death of his mother, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard raised him and his sister Kim.

Kelly was an Alumni of Elkhart Central High School and received his diploma in 1986. Kelly chose to further his education and went on to attend Tennessee State University and earn a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. Kelly was employed for more than ten years at Cisco Systems in North Carolina. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and had a knack for being a motivation to adolescent children. Kelly was an avid wrestler during his younger days, it didn’t matter what size you were because he was always up for the challenge. He always loved being around his family and friends.
