Larry A. Acklin, of Apex, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Born on January 24, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky; he was the son of the late Fred and Luria Smith Acklin. Larry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 38 years with IBM as a Technical Writer. After retirement, he enjoyed his time with his daughter and granddaughter.
He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Brewer and granddaughter, Caitlin, both of Apex; son, Larry Acklin, Jr. and his daughter, Yasmeen Addulaziz; by his brothers and sisters: Donald Acklin, Fred Acklin, Barbara Calbert, Cheryl Acklin and Janice Whittaker; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2014 from 11am - 1pm at Apex Funeral Home (550 W Williams Street), with Funeral Services at 1pm in the Chapel.
