Most of her life was spent in the Bay Area – growing up in Mill Valley, escaping to Berkeley, raising her own family in San Anselmo. From here, Laura enjoyed exploring the American West with her kids, taking road trips to national parks and ghost towns. Her love of musicals, the Violent Femmes, Paul McCartney and Judy Garland was expressed on loop during these adventures. This wanderlust saw her move from Indiana to Washington to North Carolina during her later life.
Laura is survived by her loving daughters, Carson Riutta and Liza Hildreth Blackstone, and her stepchildren, Bill Jones and Tricia Sprong. Her grandchildren Eamon, Eva, Ronan and Toby miss their Golly dearly.
Please join us in celebrating Laura’s life by taking a hike and singing ‘Blister in the Sun’ at the top of your lungs
