Margaret Comilla

Margaret was born on May 21, 1936 in Olean, NY to Frances (O'Haire) and Ray L. Sturm. She was a member of St. Bernard Church. She graduated from Bradford High, Class of 1954 and received an Associate’s Degree from Rochester Business Institute.

For 25 years, Margaret worked for the city of Bradford, a place she loved very much, and retired as Bradford City Clerk. She was also a Consultant for Tuna Valley Council of Governments, Chairman for Downtown Business District Authority, Board member of Downtown Bradford Revitalization Corp., and Tuna Valley Trails Association.

Margaret was proceeded in death by her Daughter, Lynne Comilla Hinton (Bruce). She is survived by four of her children: Lisa Comilla Farina (Richard), Jennifer Comilla Salada (Greg), Carmen “Chip” Comilla (Frankee), Michael Comilla; Her nine grandchildren: Gretchen (Jason), Allison (Steven), David (Jordana), Angie (David), Rusty (Ashley), Nick, Suzie (JC), Erin, and Alecia; Her 11 (almost 12) great grandchildren; As well as her three brothers, Timothy Sturm (Kathy), Terry Sturm (Dorothy), and Joseph Sturm (Sue).

Those who knew Peggy know that her family meant the world to her. Her home was always full of love, burgundy walls, pictures, paintings, and antiques that held a thousand stories. One of her greatest gifts was telling a very detailed story. Peggy had an eclectic style and loved dancing the jitterbug. She took pride in her garden on Williams Street. It was a sanctuary to her and was admired by many. Her unique sense of humor made everyone she met an instant friend, and before you knew it, she was inviting you to share a meal. Peggy had a zest for life that inspired everyone around her. She was a strong woman with a heart as soft as they come.

Celebration of life information to follow. A Mass will be said at St. Bernard Church in Bradford on March 9th, 2021.
