Born and bred in South Philly on 9th Street, Marie was a proud first generation Italian American. Being the youngest in her family, caring for her nieces and nephews was second nature to her as it was a joy. This role of nurturing to others would continue to evolve throughout her life. In her later years she continued helping others who were less capable than herself.
Despite her illness she persevered; always looking to share laughs, love and kindness with others.
Her 70 year marriage to her devoted husband, E. George Scalco, and caring for family was always the first priority and her greatest pride and joy.
For the past 40 years she was active in numerous ministries with St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Apex. Always giving. She touched many lives in profound ways.
Farewell to the best wife, mother, aunt, friend, confidant, mentor, chef, prayer warrior, jitterbugger, Mom Mom, and the list goes on and on and on.
