Mattie Stephens Barnes, 96, of Raleigh, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014. She was born in Wake County, NC on August 20, 1917. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Margaret Hook Sunday School Class at Fairmont United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son: Thomas E. Barnes, Jr and wife, Denise of Raleigh' grandson, Thomas E. Barnes, III; and sister-in-law, Isabel Stephens. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Barnes, Sr. and daughter, Rebecca Sue Barnes.
She rests in the arms of her beloved Mother and Daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 7, 2014 at Fairmont United Methodist Church, 2501 Clark Ave., Raleigh, NC 27607. The family will receive friends following the service.
