Patricia was born in Chicago, IL to the late James and Helen (Rachmaciej) Matthews. She faced many challenges throughout her life but persevered no matter what came her way. She worked hard to make sure her children had necessities and that they always had something special during the holidays for them, even during the toughest of times. She was constantly involved with her kids and their families, it meant everything to her as well as them to have such loving support. She adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than they could ever know. When she was able to, she helped and looked out for those who had no one able to help them in their time of need, and only asked for them to pay it forward in return. Patricia worked various jobs throughout her life, mostly in the manufacturing industry and notably for Motorola for 10+ years, and Sam’s Club, where she made many friends. She loved Chicago and always considered it home, even after relocating to NC. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks and if you went to or watched a game with her you would know it! Patricia loved going to concerts, festivals, bowling, and playing the slot machines in Vegas and at other casinos. She also enjoyed sampling fare from new restaurants, playing card and board games with family, and games online with friends. She had such a sweet, beautiful, and caring spirit. Her humor, smile, strength, and spunk will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers James Matthews Jr., William Matthews, and Richard Matthews; her aunts Elsie Rachmaciej, and Lillian (Rachmaciej) Jablecki; her granddaughter Sydny Fritz; her grandson Dalton Lovell; and her great-grandson Connor Bruce Smith.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Darrin Lovell, Kerry Lovell, Denise (Lovell) McEntee, and Dawn Lovell; her son-in-law Eric McEntee; her brother Donald Matthews (Pat); her sister Laverne (Matthews) Messina; her grandchildren including Kristen Edwards, Andrew Lovell, Colin McEntee, Jeremy McEntee; her great-grandchildren including Mason Hall; and many other nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.
There will be a private service for immediate family on August 2, 2023 and a possible Celebration of Life at a later date.
If you feel inclined, donations to dog rescue organizations in Patricia’s name would be a great way to honor her as they always held a special place in her heart. This Sanctuary is a great choice https://www.barkingholler.org/
