

Rebecca “Becky” Longworth passed away April 8th, 2024, at the age of 73 at Wake Med in Raleigh. She was born July 13th, 1951, in Alabaster, AL, the daughter of the late John Allen Montgomery and Margaret Nash Montgomery. Becky attended Auburn University, where she met her husband, John Longworth. They began raising a family of two children and moved to Hilton Head, SC in 1985. There, Becky worked as a histotechnologist at Hilton Head Hospital and retired in 2017.
Shortly after her retirement, Becky moved to North Carolina, where she maintained an active presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, to whom she provided love and support throughout their formative years. Becky also kept in contact with friends and family in Alabama and Florida, and she greatly enjoyed her opportunities to visit them. Becky also enjoyed going to the movies, boating, attending book club, and following Auburn sports. Above all else, Becky loved her family. She was a constant source of affection and showed unwavering support for her family in the face of adversity. She formed an unbreakable bond with her friends and family and will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Becky is survived by her two children, Leslie Murr (Matthew), Chris Longworth; brother, Allen Montgomery (Cele); sister, Ann Montgomery; and grandchildren, Davis and Madden Murr. She is preceded in death by her husband John Longworth.
A memorial service will be held on June 13th, 2024 at 4:00pm at Apex Funeral Home in Apex, North Carolina.
