Richard Thomas Wilkinson Jr.

Richard “Dickie” Thomas Wilkinson Jr., age 66, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at home surrounded by his family on July 8, 2013. He was born December 17, 1946 in Wake County, NC son of Richard Thomas and Reba (Herndon) Wilkinson Sr.

Graveside services in his honor will be Thursday July 11, 2013 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Apex, NC.

Dickie, as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from Apex High School (class of 1965) and Louisburg College (class of 1967); he also attended NC State. He worked for ITT for over 20 years and several Toyota dealerships before his retirement.

He is survived by his son, Michael Wilkinson; daughter, Jennifer (Jamie) Williams; sister, Virginia Wilkinson (Sid Hockaday); brothers, B.R.( Teresa) and Charles ( Cheryl) Wilkinson; nieces and nephew, April (Kevin) Yandle, Laura Wilkinson and Kevin Hockaday; his aunts, Lou Herndon and Sarah Wilkinson; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Daniel Hockaday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his memory be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Wake County.
