Robert David Robinson

Robert “David” Robinson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 in Cary, NC. He was born October 3rd 1939 in Gastonia, NC to Clyde O. Robinson Sr. and Julia (Abernathy) Robinson. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1957 graduate of Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. He retired from a long career with the Chrysler Corporation in 2002 and spent his retirement years with his wife of 47 years, Wanda (Cromer) Robinson. They lived in Roswell, GA for 30 yrs until moving back to NC. He had a deep love of music and classic cars. He enjoyed spending time with friends picking at guitars and listening to his extraordinary vinyl collection while sipping bourbon.

He was the father of 3 children with his first wife Carolyn R. Maddry. He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Julia Robinson, his brother Clyde O. Robinson Jr. and his beautiful daughter Julia “Julie” Elizabeth (Robinson) Tart.

He is survived by his wife Wanda C. Robinson; son Michael David (Kim) Robinson of Holly Springs, NC, Rebecca Ann (John) Shaw of Fort Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren Jamie Pendergraft, Jena (David) Barnhardt, Elizabeth Tart, Samuel “Sam” Stiles, April Stiles, Michael “Woody” (Shelby) Robinson, Jaxon Clevenger and Cooper Robinson; great grandchildren Jordan (Jamie), Caden (Jamie), Colt (Jena) and Annabelle (Jena); nephews David Robinson and Robert “Bob” Robinson; sister-in-law, Louise Robinson; brother-in-law, Randy (Dawna) Cromer. The family will join together in a private gathering at home to reminisce, grieve and support each other and of course, listen to some of his favorite music. Cremation will be by Apex Funeral Home, Apex, NC.
