

Roger graduated from North Carolina State University in 1963 with a degree in Animal Science. He worked in dairy research for NC State and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture for nearly forty years and was an accomplished dairyman. His care for others and unwavering devotion to his family and friends was evident in everything he did. He was an avid sports fan and nothing delighted him more than watching his grandchildren’s ballgames. He was also an active member of the Shepherd’s Church in Cary, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Omega Collins, his sons, Stewart (Leslie) of Raleigh, NC and Charlie (Macon) of Charlotte, NC and his eight grandchildren: Connor, Carson, Anne Stewart, and Carter Collins of Raleigh, NC and Charlie, Tucker, Porter and Hank Collins of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy Roe of Sparta, NC.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Doris Stoker and her husband, Clive Stoker, his brother, George Collins, and his brother-in-law, Rudy Roe.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Shepherd’s Church, 6051 Tryon Road, Cary, NC 27518.
