Veronica “Roni” Salansky grew up on a farm in Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania with her parents Edward and Margaret Schrama and younger brother, Tommy.
From 1st through 8th grade Roni attended a one-room school-house and then graduated from Harter High School in 1957 in West Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from high school, Roni attended Wyoming Valley Hospital School of Nursing where she acquired her nursing degree and became a registered nurse in 1960. Throughout her nursing career, her high achievement included becoming the Superintendent of Nurses at Highland Hospital in Beacon, New York.
Roni married Ambrose Salansky in November of 1960. They were married for 49 years before Ambrose passed away in November 2010. They had one daughter, Jodi Schuh (Brian) who then gave Roni her three grandchildren - Kimberly Schuh, Ali Conrad (Gerald), and Connor Schuh. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life and she loved them more than life itself.
Roni was an avid crafter. She had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and bird watching. She also enjoyed word searches - extra large! Roni and her Kindle were superglued together. You could find her reading at all hours of the day.
Roni’s second home was Disney World! She was known by her family as “Olaf’s #1 Fan!” Throughout her years she went on many trips to Disney - each one with a pair of ears on her head. She loved people-watching and enjoying some raspberry dole whip.
She will be inurned at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN beside her husband Ambrose.
The family asks that the day of visitation vibrant colors be worn.
