Virginia Carolyn Goodwin

Virginia Carolyn Goodwin, 87, passed away on Monday evening, March 16, 2015. Born on May 22, 1927 in Apex; she was the daughter of the late Robert Duke Goodwin and Clara Louise Lawrence Goodwin and wife of the late LeRoy Hartwell Goodwin.

She graduated from Apex High School and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Winston-Salem. She worked at Rex Hospital and with Dr. Robert M. Horton for many years.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children: Deanna Iskowe, Joe Bickley, Virginia Ruth Bickley and husband Jerry Newman, and Nina Olive and husband Bunn; by her grandchildren: Jeff Bickley and wife Denise, Todd Meador, Greg Bickley and wife Laura and Carla Trepper and husband Justin; nine great-grandchildren; and by her sister-in-law: Lilija Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Robert Lee Goodwin and Sylvia Wester; her nephew, Robert R. Goodwin and by her granddaughter: Mistye Meador.

The family will receive friends 5:30-7:00pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St, Apex, NC. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 12 Noon at Olive Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery.
