BAKERSFIELD – Phillip Deering, age 93, of Bakersfield, passed away at home on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1931, in Ontonagon, Michigan, the son of George and Stella (Schluckebier) Deering.
Phil was preceded in death by his younger brother, David, in 1982. Together, they had four half-siblings: Elaine, Florence, Donald, and Dorothy.
Phil proudly served in the Korean War and made California his home after his military service. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Barb. They shared 57 wonderful years together before her passing in 2017 due to cancer.
Phil spent his career working for the City of Ontario. He had a passion for collecting beer steins and enjoyed making friends at local swap meets.
He is survived by his son; Eric; grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Phil’s family and friends are deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by his caregivers.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 1:00 PM at Sunset Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Rd, Apple Valley, CA 92307
