Philip Allen Van Alstine was born on June 26, 1932 in Boston Massachusetts and was raised in Butte Montana. He graduated from the Montana School of Mines with a B.S. in Geological Engineering in 1959. He moved to Juneau Alaska where he met the love of his life Florence. They settled in High Desert in 1969. With his work for Pfizer and Specialty Minerals he traveled to many parts of the U.S., Europe and Asia. He retired in 1998. He was an avid outdoors man and loved camping fishing and hunting. He was nicknamed Eagle Eye by his friends for his sharp shooting abilities. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Mary. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Florence; daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Richard Kalber;daughter and son-in-law Lucy and William Rivera; son Philip and daughter Susan; grandchildren David Kalber, Laura Kalber, Ashley Rivera and Nathaniel Rivera. He is also survived by his siblings Charles, John, William and Kathryn.
Memorial services will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park on Thursday May 12 at 11 AM.
