Teresa Rubio Domingo
June 1, 1924 – April 19, 2026
Teresa Rubio Domingo passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101. A woman of boundless resilience and "extraordinary" generosity, Teresa was a self-made success who defined her life through immense strength, independence, and a heart for service.
A Life of Hard Work and Service
Born on June 1, 1924, in Maui, Hawaii, Teresa was the daughter of Anastacio and Bernarda Domingo. Her parents worked on a Hawaiian plantation before choosing to return to the Philippines to reunite with the rest of their family. It was there that Teresa grew up and began her professional life in Manila. A talented entrepreneur, she graduated from vocational school for hairdressing and dressmaking and, alongside her sister Juanita Pabelan, successfully managed the Blue Swan Beauty Salon and Dress Shop.
Teresa was known above all as a dedicated, hardworking mother who raised her two children on her own. Her journey came full circle when she returned to Hawaii in the 1960s, where she worked at the Hilton Hawaiian Village until her retirement.
Even after her retirement and moving to Los Angeles, California, Teresa’s commitment to others never wavered. She joined the Senior Companion Program at the Lanterman Development Center in Pomona, serving her community with devotion for over 25 years. She spent her century of life ensuring others had the opportunities she worked so hard to create, and she remains a guiding light for the many family and friends she leaves behind.
A Legacy of Generosity
Teresa’s life was characterized by her selflessness. She was a pillar for her extended family, helping her nephews and nieces in the Philippines pursue their education and assisting her siblings in starting new lives in Hawaii and Los Angeles.
She was also a faithful supporter of numerous causes, including St. Jude Research Hospital, Boystown, the Maryknoll Fathers, Spirit of Love Catholic Community, and Salesian Missions, La Sabre Indian School, and the Society of Little Flower. She was a proud member of the Anak Ti Batac association in Honolulu.
