Teruko Hiratsuka Bennett

Teruko Hiratsuka Bennett, age 75, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 surrounded by her family and friends in Apple Valley, CA. Teruko was born in Fukuoka, Japan on November 23, 1940. She was raised in Kurume City by her father Masaru Hiratsuka and grandmother Hideyo Kajimura. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Samuel Bennett, her three children Edwin, Naomi, and Lisa, her son-in-law Luke Evans, and grandsons Luke and Kai. She was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first and she brought laughter to all who were blessed to have her as a loyal friend. She dedicated her life to serving others.

Teruko attended nursing school in Kurume, Japan and Abington, Pennsylvania and worked for St. Mary's Hospital in Apple Valley for 43 years. She also obtained an Associate Degree in History from Victor Valley College. After retirement, Teruko enjoyed traveling throughout the world with her husband and singing karaoke in the Joshua Tree Karaoke Club.

Memorial service will be held on May 25, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Sunset Hills Memorial Park located at 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley, CA 92307.
