

Born in Portales, NM, on August 27, 1943, Barrett graduated from Roswell Senior High and received a Civil Engineer BSCE from New Mexico State University in 1972 and married Betty Lou Mobley on August 24, 1962.
Barrett had a career as a Licensed Civil Engineer that span 42 years. He had three years in light commercial facility design and construction; four years in municipal water, sewer, drainage and street system design and construction; eight years in heavy highway construction and design; twenty one years in Transit System Design and Construction; and 6 years consulting after he retired. For Three years, he was Partner and Vice President of Atkins Engineering Associates, Inc. in Roswell, NM.
Bo was an avid fisherman. He once said he would like to take a tour and fish all the lakes in Texas. He enjoyed photography, hunting, the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and trail rides in the Mountains of NM. He was a cattleman and was from a ranching family with roots in Breckenridge, TX.
Bo was well liked by all who knew him. His playful teasing and laugh will be remembered by all. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Atkins, father Hubert F. Atkins, mother Ruby Terry Atkins, and father-in-law Dan Mobley.
Survivors: his wife Betty Atkins; son Kevin Lee Atkins; brothers Harvey F. Atkins and Jack D. Atkins; sister Rita S. Cibak; and mother-in-law Mildred Mobley.
