He graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1955 and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army until 1959.
Burley moved his family to Arlington, TX. in 1960. He began his career in teaching at the University of Texas at Arlington and was a professor there in the School of Business until he retired in 2000.
He is preceded in death by his parents Burley Walker and Sue Bernice Watkins Walker and his son Burley Paul Walker. Burley is survived by his son Michael B. Walker and wife Debra Lamont Walker of Fort Worth, daughter Mary Anne Bowen and husband Scott Bowen of Fort Worth; Grandsons Matthew Kuban and wife Michelle Kuban of North Richland Hills, Michael Kuban and wife Kim Kuban of Hurst; Zachary Bowen of Fort Worth; and great-grandchildren Sam and Evelyn Kuban of North Richland Hills.
He was active in the community serving on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Arlington and as a member of the Rotary Club where he headed up the Veterans Park Memorial.
Burley’s motto is “It’s too early in the day to be complaining.” A lifelong learner who loved the pursuit of knowledge, he enjoyed a good pun, travel, reading, westerns and football. The last football game he watched was his Alma Mater defeating their hated rivals, OU 34 – UT 30. He was a kind soul and gentle spirit and will be greatly missed.
