Charlene and her husband were long time residents in South Arlington Texas were they raised their three children. They were active members of Tate Springs Baptist Church and then became charter members of First Baptist Church of Irving until her husband’s death in 2001. A year later she sold the homestead and moved to Kopperl, Texas south of Cleburne, Texas to live next door to her daughter and son-in-law. Charlene was active going on vacations, cruises, and attending the First Baptist Church of Kopperl, Texas until her health kept her homebound. The last 7 ½ months she was a resident at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home of Keene Texas. Where she was head of the Wheelchair Choir Brigade, President of the Resident Council, Chair Person on the Nutritional and Activities Board, and was one a heck of a Bingo Player. She was an inspiration to the Residents encouraging the stroke residents to speak and to assist them in arts and craft activities, occasionally she would submit a poem or story in the monthly newsletter titled “All Around the Town”.
