Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
David was born in Brownsville and grew up in Kirbyville. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. David graduated from UT with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He had a long and distinguished career at LTV in the Missiles and Space Division. He retired from LTV after 30 years and went to work at the Superconducting Supercollider Laboratory from which he retired five years later.
Survivors: His loving wife of 63 years, Kathleen Martin of Arlington; daughter, Cindy VanderSleen and husband, Tom, of Arlington; sons, David Michael Martin Jr. and wife, Adriane, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Scott E. Martin and wife, Lovell, of Kansas City, Kan.; and grandsons, Corey VanderSleen of Arlington and David M. "Trey" Martin III of Hot Springs.
