He was born in Fort Worth, TX. On January 18, 1941.
He graduated from Northside High school in 1959 and attended Arlington State College A.K.A. University of Texas at Arlington on a football scholarship.
Donald was married to Dorothy Jean Howell Ford on August 31, 1967, after meeting on a blind date on May 31 of the same year.
He was employed by Equifax Services as an insurance investigator for 42 years. He then came out of retirement and worked selling insurance for Farmers for 3 years. Donald ended his career by working as a customer service representative for the Texas Rangers baseball organization.
He had a passion for collecting sports memorabilia, stamps, and coins. He also loved Indian art and decorated his man-cave with Indian artifacts… including a mounted buffalo head!
He loved the Lord with all his heart and attended Gateway Church as a member for 17 years. Donald’s true love was his family and friends. He was Don, “Honey”, Dad, Pops, Pawpaw, Grandpa, and Coach.
He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Jean “Jeannie” Ford; his children, Fawnda Sue Newton, Donald “Donny” Ford Jr., and Starla Dawn Dalton; his grandchildren, Daniel Nichols, Evan Nichols, Meredith Nichols, Hannah Ford, and Samuel Ford; his brother, Jess David Ford, and his wife Vicki
and his sister-in-law, Melissa Marie Likes and her husband Dave.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jefferson and Jesse Mae Ford, his brother Truitt Eugene Ford, and his son, Donald Brock Ford.
Funeral arrangements will be as follows: Visitation will be held from 12:00- 1:00pm, the funeral service will be held from 1:00- 2:00pm, and the committal service will occur immediately following the service on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr. Arlington, TX. 76012
