

Doris was born on April 26, 1927, in Oklaunion, Texas, to Virgil Cooper and Thaney Cooper. She spent many years as a resident of Arlington, Texas, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and service to others.
In 1945, she married Samuel Hornbaker, and together they shared many devoted years and raised two children. Doris was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family.
In her spare time, Doris found joy in quilting, reading, and sewing. She was actively involved in her church and cherished the time she spent with her loved ones. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Doris will be remembered as a deeply caring and loving woman who always placed others’ happiness before her own. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose legacy of love will live on through her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hornbaker; her son, Dale Hornbaker; and her brother and sister.
She is survived by her son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Vikki; grandchildren, Laura (Robert), Sherri, Carolyn (Terry), Brandi (Kevin), and Brittany (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Tanner, Jordyn, Cash, Jacob, Ace, Madison, Tyler, Thea, Alyssa, Arlo, Emory, Ian, Myles, and a great-great grandson, Isaak; her brother, Jerry Cooper; her sister, Peggy Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. John the Apostle Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas.
